Harris Corporation announces agreement to expand Florida’s HIE secure messaging service: Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, today announced a first-of-its-kind agreement with Quest Diagnostics that will significantly expand the breadth of services offered by the Florida Health Information Exchange (HIE). Harris was awarded a four-year contract with the Agency for Healthcare Administration in 2010 to implement a statewide HIE infrastructure in Florida that will improve the delivery and coordination of health care.
Defran Systems launches enhanced mobile solution to help remote staff go paperless: Defran Systems, a leading provider of clinical and financial management (EHR) software for the behavioral health and human services industries, today announced the release of a major update for its mobile solution. Axis Diagnostics and Advanced Data Systems collaborate on EHR and lab: Axis Diagnostics, Inc. of Langhorne, PA and Advanced Data Systems (ADS) of Paramus, NJ have successfully collaborated on integrating systems. Physicians using ADS’ MedicsDocAssistant EHR will be able to send patient test orders directly to Axis Diagnostics. Results will be transmitted from Axis Diagnostics directly back into the patient’s record in the MedicsDocAssistant EHR, completely automating the entire lab orders / results process.
Vitera healthcare solutions study indicates mobile EHR solution interest: Vitera Healthcare Solutions, one of the nation’s largest providers of electronic health records and practice management software and services, announced today the results of its EHR Solutions and Mobile Technologies Study. The Tampa-based Healthcare IT provider, which serves more than 400,000 healthcare professionals, surveyed doctors, executives and practice managers to identify how they currently use mobile technologies and how they intend to use them in the future.

ApeniMED, a leader in healthcare interoperability and the new federal standards for healthcare connectivity, NwHIN (Nationwide Health Information Network), has developed a software solution to respond electronically to audit requests. The solution, eAudit from ApeniMED, will be integrated into the ChartMaxx platform to provide staff with 24/7 concurrent access to complete patient medical records for streamlined submission of Medicare audit responses.
Medtronic Launches CareLink express service: In line with the Company’s commitment to provide superior economic value to customers, Medtronic, Inc., today announced the U.S. launch of the CareLink Express Service. This service is a remote monitoring system that enables clinicians in healthcare facilities to quickly obtain data regarding the status of Medtronic implanted cardiac devices, facilitating faster treatment decisions. The device data from CareLink Express can be automatically exported to the facility’s electronic health records (EHR). In addition, the implanted device data is automatically sent via the CareLink Network to the patient’s device-following physician, for immediate access.

The State of Indiana now permits parents and patients to access immunization records from the state immunization registry: The state has rolled out the MyVaxIndiana Web site following a pilot program that included health departments, hospitals, physician practices and a public school. A vaccine record, authorized after an individual gets a personal identification number from their physician or the state health department, can be printed or faxed to the individual, downloaded as a PDF file, or downloaded into a personal health record.
