Effective clinical decision-making depends on the coming together of disparate data, enabling the right care at the right time at the right place. 

Complicating matters are three problems. First, information comes from a variety of data sources. Second, the integrated data must be transformed and delivered as actionable information to providers. Third, a one-size-fits-all approach to data does not allow for the personalization necessary to care for individual patients.

"Organizations need to work with a number of different vendors, and there's a huge ecosystem of solutions that can help organizations with this. But each organization needs to come up with their strategy about what solutions they need and how they are going to leverage them," says Michael Leonard, AWS Marketplace Global Healthcare Strategy Lead.

Bringing together the right combination of people, process, and technology is essential to driving advancements in interoperability and achieving longitudinal views of patients capable of improving care and health outcomes.

"Once the data is available, then care must be taken to make sure that there is some kind of automated rule-based systems that provide the appropriate set of interventions back to the clinician to employ because you don't want to overwhelm the clinician with tons of data," explains Ananth Balasubramanian, AWS Web Services WW Leader of Healthcare & Life Science - ISV, Marketplace and Data Exchange.

Through advancements in interoperability and the procurement of trusted solutions via the cloud, healthcare organizations can achieve new levels of clinical efficiency that benefit patients and the overall healthcare system.
