- A nonprofit behavioral health services organization recently made the decision to implement a Cerner EHR system across its facilities as part of an effort to improve the mental health of residents of Northern California.

Remi Vista will launch Cerner’s integrated community behavioral health EHR system to assist in delivering care to youth and families.

“With the goal of giving individuals the support they need to continue on their paths toward personal meaning and wholeness, we needed to establish a relationship that advances our health care technology capabilities to properly serve the people that count on us,” said Remi Vista CEO Stephanie Holmes.

Cerner’s system will not only help us promote mental health and well-being at our offices and homes, but will also support our desire to be ‘Ambassadors of Hope’ to more people as we continue to expand our impact throughout Northern California,” Holmes added.

The behavioral health-specific EHR system is designed to meet the unique needs of healthcare organizations that address psychological disorders. Clinicians can utilize comprehensive digital patient health records to view data from different care settings, facilities, and healthcare organizations. These comprehensive patient health records provide clinicians with up-to-date information about each patient’s mental and physical health.

Remi Vista will also utilize Cerner’s revenue cycle management platform to improve its financial operations and link patients’ clinical and financial data into a single record.

Health systems and their patients will also have access to the Cerner-provided web-based portal. Through this portal, individuals and families can actively engage in the care process by viewing vital health data, sharing self-reported information, scheduling appointments and communicating with their care team.

“We are helping Remi Vista address behavioral health to support the well-being of children, young adults and families in crisis,” said Cerner Clinical and Business Strategy Vice President Adam Laskey.

“Behavioral health networks like Remi Vista’s provide clinic-based mental health services and are critical to their communities,” Laskey added. “With the right tools, organizations like these can continue their life-changing work and expand their reach and impact.”

The nonprofit behavioral healthcare organization will receive a customized suite of health IT applications and services geared toward the specific needs of behavioral health providers. The EHR system will include tools designed to address mental disorders, substance abuse issues, developmental disabilities, and cognitive decline.

Remi Vista includes facilities across Shasta County, Butte County, Siskiyou County, Humboldt County, and Del Norte County. In addition to behavioral healthcare, the organization also offers foster care, group homes, transitional housing, and supported living from developmentally disabled adults.

In September, Spectrum Health & Human Services made the decision to launch its own Cerner EHR implementation project through Cerner’s community behavioral health deployment model.

“Spectrum is extending our long-term relationship with Cerner to offer our patients improved services to face the challenges associated with mental health and substance abuse issues,” said Spectrum CEO Bruce Nisbet.

Spectrum offers an array of behavioral healthcare services in centralized, community-based locations across Western New York. The behavioral health agency also includes several satellite locations within primary care practices throughout Erie County.

Patients at Spectrum will have the opportunity to utilize Cerner’s patient portal to view their personal health data, share self-reported information with providers, schedule appointments, pay bills, and communicate with their care teams online.

“Spectrum’s status as one of the few Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics in New York is recognition of the dedicated and passionate clinicians that are making a difference in the mental health of their community,” said Cerner Clinical and Business Strategy Vice President Adam Laskey.

“Cerner’s behavioral health-specific solutions will help Spectrum continue to provide individualized and personal care to each patient to support overall well-being,” Laskey added.
