Cerner EHR Integration Aims to Boost Care Coordination, Data Analytics

A new Cerner EHR integration at Baystate Health aims to boost data analytics capabilities for patient-centered care and care coordination.

A new Cerner EHR integration at Baystate Health in Western Massachusetts is set to enhance patient-centered care delivery and boost care coordination.

The Cerner EHR integration will aggregate patient health information to give clinicians actionable population-level data analytics for more effective disease management and patient-centered care delivery.

The integration comes as an expansion to a two-decade relationship between the vendor and Baystate Health.

“Our relationship with Cerner will help us create a truly integrated digital platform across our system, helping connect our consumers to the services they desire while providing the right tools for our clinical and non-clinical staff,” explained Joel L. Vengco, senior vice president and chief information & digital officer at Baystate Health.

“The healthcare that our patients and communities deserve will be accessible, orchestrated, and personalized,” Vengco continued. “We will be working with Cerner and their many partners to deliver a digital and data-focused approach that advances our care delivery and enhances our patients’ lives.”

As healthcare consumerism grows and patients yearn to become more involved in their own healthcare, demands for digital health technologies are increasing.

The new platform will bring together applications and tools from Cerner and third-party developers in one unified view for the health system to manage.

This integration will allow Baystate Health providers the opportunity to accelerate new care models, personalize care for patients, and enable care coordination across the continuum.

"Baystate Health and Cerner are seeking to build an industry-defining collaboration," Donald Trigg, President of Cerner, said in a public statement.

"Baystate Health has a compelling plan to grow key specialties, deliver consumer-friendly access to their provider health network, and innovate around value-based care,” he continued. “Our collaboration will deliver the products and technology platform needed to advance those strategic goals.”

Additionally, Baystate Health plans to deploy Cerner’s HealtheIntent population health solution into the clinical workflows of providers at its Physician Health Organization, Baycare Health Partners, to support personalized primary care experiences across Western Massachusetts.

Baystate Health also plans to integrate a comprehensive suite of Cerner revenue cycle management solutions across its acute and ambulatory facilities for streamlined patient access to health information and a streamlined billing experience for consumers and providers alike.

Cerner will work alongside TechSpring, Baystate Health’s digital innovation team, to support the adoption and optimization of the new tools at the health system. Cerner and TechSpring will also collaborate to support other third-party innovators as they integrate with the digital health platform.
