- The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Foundation has announced an expanded collaboration with health IT vendor DrFirst in an effort to help CHIME members leverage innovative technology to improve clinician satisfaction and patient care delivery.

The strategic advisory collaboration will consist of several initiatives that set out to guide CIOs and CMIOs as they work to enhance interoperability within their organizations.

The initiatives will include podcasts, educational webinars, thought leadership articles, white papers, and focus groups discussing areas of urgency for healthcare leaders such as reducing readmissions and increasing clinician satisfaction.

The CHIME Foundation's Leader-to-Leader podcast features an interview with G. Cameron Deemer, president of DrFirst . The podcast will explore current healthcare industry challenges, including mitigating COVID-19, supporting virtual care delivery, and enhancing interoperability for care coordination.

DrFirst also recently hosted a thought leadership roundtable which fostered discussion from CHIME members on artificial intelligence (AI) implementation for medication management.

These initiatives are expected to boost health IT innovation through a focus on industry collaboration.

CHIME also aims to help health IT leaders evaluate their organization’s digital health strategy through its Digital Health Most Wired survey.

The survey and certification program evaluates health IT adoption and processes as well as organizational digital health philosophies.

CHIME recently awarded 10 healthcare organizations the highest level of certification for their commitment to digital health transformation.

To receive a level 10 certification, organizations must “show an outstanding record of leveraging the power of digital technology within a visionary corporate strategy,” CHIME representatives noted at the time of the announcement.

“The Digital Health Most Wired program recognizes the outstanding digital leaders who have paved the way for this imminent revolution in healthcare,” Russell P. Branzell, CHIME President and CEO, said in a public statement at the time of the announcement.

 “Their trailblazing commitment to rapid transformation has set an example for the entire industry in how to pursue a leadership vision with determination, brilliant planning and courage to overcome all challenges.”

Over 36,000 healthcare organizations participated in the survey this year, a 20 percent jump in participation compared to last year, highlighting COVID-19’s impact on the digital health transformation.

“Digital transformation in healthcare has accelerated to an unprecedented level since 2020, and the next few years will bring a wave of innovation that empowers healthcare consumers and will astound the industry,” Branzell continued.
