CMS Extends Electronic Clinical Quality Measures Deadline

CMS has extended its eCQM deadline to December 31 for all eligible hospitals reporting for the EHR Incentive Programs or the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Programs.

By Sara Heath

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended its reporting deadline for electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs), a component of both the agency’s Medicare EHR Incentive Program and the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) program.

Eligible hospitals (EHs) will need to submit their reports to CMS by December 31, 2015, via the QualityNet Secure Portal.

This change only applies to those voluntarily reporting for IQR and the Medicare EHR Incentive Program. Additionally, CMS explains that it will no longer offer additional help beyond the typical level on the QualityNet Portal between November 28 and 30.

This deadline change does not affect the February 29, 2016 deadline for meaningful use attestation.

Furthermore, CMS explains that it has received reports of problems regarding the QualityNet Portal, specifically with accessing and confirming submissions. If a submitter needs additional help due to this problem, it should contact its support contractor immediately.
