- CMS has posted the electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM) Logic Flows for the 2017 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) reporting period.
The Logic Flows are intended to help eligible clinicians participating in MIPS to successfully submit eCQMs. Specifically, they offer a simple interpretation of the eCQMs and break down the calculation methodology for each of the measures.
“The flows begin with the identification of the initial population (denominator) for the measure, and then outlines the measure’s quality action (numerator) as well as reasons why the measure’s numerator was not met,” CMS explained in an announcement.
The agency also emphasized that these Logic Flows are intended as an additional resource in MIPS reporting and should not be used in place of the measure specification.
Eligible clinicians can find the eCQM Logic Flows in eCQI Resource Center or the eCQM library. MIPS reporting begins on January 1, 2017.
