KY Hospital Receives Epic Award for EHR Implementation Success

EHR vendor Epic has recognized Pikeville Medical Center as the recipient of its 2022 Good Install award for its June 2022 EHR implementation, according to reporting from Appalachian News Express.

The hospital located in Pikeville, Kentucky, has been a member of Epic’s Gold Star program at Level 8 for the past two years due to its use of Epic EHR best practices. The 10-level program aims to encourage continuous improvement of clinical and financial outcomes.
“I could not be more proud of the PMC team that worked on the Epic project,” Tony Damron, PMC senior vice president and CIO, said in a press release. “PMC is on record for accomplishing one of the quickest Epic system installations, and we earned high praise during the process. This is a true testament to the fantastic work done by our entire team.”
The Epic EHR platform allows clinicians and other healthcare providers to drive care coordination through access to clinical notes, physician orders, and test results.
“When Pikeville Medical Center is recognized on this level by the nation’s leader in electronic health records systems, it confirms what we already know,” noted Donovan Blackburn, PMC chairman, president, and CEO.
“PMC has over 3,000 employees and achieving this distinction is not possible without a great team working together to improve the health of our patients,” Blackburn added. “To say I am proud of our healthcare heroes at PMC is an understatement.”
Midwestern University Unifies Clinics Through Epic EHR Implementation
Midwestern University in Illinois has adopted an integrated Epic EHR system, bringing health IT platforms at its Dental Institute, Eye Institute, Multispecialty Clinic, and Therapy Institute into one system.
The EHR implementation is set to improve the patient experience by allowing patients who seek care in several departments at the University’s clinics to access their health information in one spot. In addition, patient records will be accessible throughout the Midwestern University Clinics to drive care coordination.
Additional benefits for patients include more options for appointment management, secure messaging to their care team, and billing information in one location with online payment options.
“Over 250 million patients have an electronic record in Epic, and Epic is used in most of the top hospitals, clinics, and university medical systems in the US,” Kathleen H. Goeppinger, PhD, Midwestern University president and CEO said in a public statement.
“Those faculty, staff, and students in our clinics will have the opportunity to learn the new software, experience the benefits of an integrated system and, most importantly, help us improve our patient experience,” Goeppinger added.
FQHC Selects eClinicalWorks Cloud-Based EHR to Drive Efficiencies
