Ohio Hospital Goes Live with MEDITECH Expanse EHR 

The newly launched MEDITECH Expanse EHR aims to boost functionality and interoperability, guiding clinical decisions with a full view of patient health histories. 

The Bellevue Hospital (TBH), an Ohio-based not-for-profit community hospital, went live with a MEDITECH Expanse EHR, which will unify patient records across all its care locations. 

The investment in MEDITECH Expanse offers providers real-time patient information through a web-based navigation platform that personalizes clinical workflows. 

By providing a comprehensive view of patient health history, TBH said the EHR enhances clinical decisions, regardless of when or where care was received. 

With built-in clinical decision support, the EHR aims to enhance patient safety with its continuous data access to keep on top of changes in patient conditions and respond rapidly, the organization added. 

Moreover, providers can access records, place orders, and document care anytime and anywhere using mobile devices. 

“We are happy to be working with MEDITECH and look forward to implementing our new system,” said Timothy A. Buit, president and chief executive officer of TBH. 

“As we implement this system, please be patient with our staff as we learn new processes. You may experience delays at first, but our long-term goal is to increase functionality and interoperability of TBH’s EHR now and in the future.” 

Adding to this advancement, TBH is launching a secure patient portal, Health eChart, which became available at the time of the go-live on June 1, 2023. This portal, replacing FollowMyHealth, will allow patients to easily access records such as test results, review discharge instructions, and see upcoming appointments. 

63-Provider FQHC Looks to eClinicalWorks for EHR Functionality Add-Ons 

Horizon Health Care, a group of federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) located across South Dakota, has tapped solutions from eClinicalWorks to enhance EHR functionality and modernize the group’s 63-provider practice. 

By partnering with eClinicalWorks, the 45-year-old health center aims to bolster growth and improve operational efficiency. 

Specifically, the healthcare organization will leverage the eClinicalWorks Behavioral Health module so providers at Horizon Health Care can access care plans to track progress and plan the next course in patient care. 

“Horizon behavioral health services provide support for individuals, groups, and families at our community health centers,” said Lacey Finkbeiner, clinical informatics specialist at Horizon. “With the eClinicalWorks Behavioral Health module, our providers can document patient information and confidential notes, all of which is kept secure. The technology also allows us to collaborate with the patient’s primary care provider to ensure the best patient care in one unified solution.” 

Alongside these enhancements, Horizon Health Care has also integrated eClinicalWorks' Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set. This addition allows for the identification of care gaps, improved patient engagement, and effective measurement of treatment compliance. The enhanced data interaction at the practice, provider, and patient levels aims to further population health planning. 

Chicago Pain Management Practice Transition EHR for Practice Efficiency Needs 

The Chicago Stem Cell Therapy & Pain Management Institute, specializing in chronic pain and injury treatment through traditional and innovative therapies, has transitioned to eClinicalWorks EHR for clinics and ambulatory surgery centers. 

“We wanted the best cloud EHR and IT solution partner to help enhance the delivery of healthcare services to our patients,” said Vionette Velazquez, office manager of Chicago Stem Cell Therapy & Pain Management Institute. "Prior to implementing eClinicalWorks, we were on a paper ASC documentation system.” 

“The eClinicalWorks unified solution for ASCs enabled us to optimize our operational processes for both our clinic and ASC with features such as pre-op, intra-op and post-op documentation, inventory management tracking, and access to patient information,” Velazquez continued. 

Along with unifying the patient record system at the Chicago Stem Cell Therapy & Pain Management Institute, this modernization enabled real-time access to patient data. 

The shift also allowed providers to make informed decisions, provide personalized care plans, and concentrate more on patient experience from pre-op to billing to follow-up care.
