Urgent Care Org Taps Allscripts EHR Platform for Interoperability

Next Level Urgent Care has partnered with health IT vendor Allscripts on an EHR implementation that is expected to enhance interoperability and streamline clinician data workflows.  

Next Level Urgent Care provides walk-in care for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries such as sprains, strains, lacerations, allergies, rashes, and congestion issues across 20 locations in the Houston area.

The healthcare organization will implement Allscripts Touchworks EHR platform and Microsoft Azure hosting and services in an effort to enhance interoperability across its network of locations.

The EHR platform’s open architecture and configurability is set to help Next Level Urgent Care scale the health IT solution and integrate it with existing tools.

“Allscripts will help us achieve a single, clinical, patient record and unified workflow for medical staff to better serve patients that are in search of high-quality, cost-effective, immediate medical care for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries,” Next Level CEO, Juliet Breeze, MD, said in a public statement.

Next Level Urgent Care is also implementing a patient engagement solution from the health IT vendor in an effort to enhance population health.

“Additionally, by implementing an enterprise patient engagement solution such as FollowMyHealth, we’re helping promote healthy patient populations and manage care quality within our communities,” Breeze added.

The healthcare organization will also implement financial management technology from Allscripts, which Next Level Urgent Care expects will streamline operational efficiencies and drive revenue growth.

This comes even as industry reports have given the Allscripts EHR mixed reviews. A recent KLAS report revealed that Allscripts scored below the market average for combined overall product suite grade and combined overall loyalty grade, earning a C- for both.

KLAS noted that the Sunrise acute care clinical solution is used by both small and very large organizations, while Sunrise Ambulatory Care and Sunrise Financial Manager have not been widely adopted.

According to the report, customers report significant interface maintenance with Allscripts transformational technology solutions for population health, patient engagement, and telehealth as they are found on disparate databases.

Additionally, the authors noted that the EHR updates can break interfaces for highly customized versions of the platform. Still, over half of customers (53 percent) reported satisfaction with their health IT investment.
