Frederick Health Taps MEDITECH EHR Integration for Precision Medicine

The MEDITECH EHR integration allows Frederick Health providers to order genetic tests and analyze discrete results directly within the Expanse platform.

Maryland-based Frederick Health has completed a MEDITECH EHR integration to elevate its precision medicine program.

The integration of Expanse Genomics within the health systems' MEDITECH Expanse EHR allows Frederick Health providers to order genetic tests, analyze discrete results, and guide effective treatments based on specific genetic profiles directly within the EHR.

Frederick Health has also tapped GenomOncology's Precision Oncology Platform within Expanse Genomics for expanded access to precision medicine information.

With the platform, Frederick Health providers have access to curated precision oncology information, including clinical trials and approved therapies, to support more informed recommendations for patients.

"We continue to enhance our Precision Medicine & Genetics program through Expanse Genomics and now our partnership with GenomOncology's platform, including treatment options with clinical trials and approved therapies," Jackie Rice, vice president and CIO with Frederick Health, said in a press release.

"This capability is a differentiator in the healthcare market and allows us to continue our mission to positively impact the well-being of every individual in our community," Rice added.

UPMC Somerset Prepares to Implement Epic EHR

UPMC Somerset, formerly known as Somerset Hospital, is preparing to fully integrate into the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's (UPMC) Epic EHR platform.

Somerset Hospital joined the UPMC network in February 2019.

The Epic EHR implementation, set to be complete between late 2025 and mid-2026, will allow UPMC Somerset to move from nine disparate systems to a single, comprehensive platform.

Previously, UPMC used Oracle Health for inpatient records and Epic for outpatient records.

By consolidating patient data into a single system, healthcare providers at UPMC Somerset will have access to comprehensive patient histories for care coordination and patient-centered care.

The integrated EHR is also expected to improve the efficiency of medical procedures and reduce the potential for errors, ultimately driving patient outcomes.

Multispecialty Clinic Drives Patient Experience with eCW Tools

Texas-based Orchid Wellness PLLC has reported improved operational efficiencies after deploying an EHR platform and other health IT tools from eClinicalWorks.

Orchid Wellness is a multispecialty clinic that offers comprehensive care services, including primary care, women's health, weight loss, and IV therapy.

The practice recently implemented healow Open Access and healow Text2Pay to streamline operations and improve the patient experience.

By implementing these tools, Orchid Wellness patients can manage their appointment schedules and make payments through a secure digital link. The solutions have helped the practice increase online visibility, reduce no-shows, and minimize costs on paper statements.

"eClinicalWorks innovative health IT solutions have transformed our operations, allowing us to grow our practice and provide our patients a seamless experience," Chelsea Debrah, a family nurse practitioner at Orchid Wellness, said in a public statement.

"With healow Open Access, we have drastically increased the overall number of appointments, with 90 percent of our patients self-scheduling appointments through a user-friendly and flexible system," Debrah added. "Patients provide us with a number to receive statements via a text link and easily make payments. This has helped improve our patient communication and overall patient experience."
