VT Health System Streamlines Health IT Strategy with MEDITECH EHR

Gifford Health Care is replacing three legacy health IT systems with a MEDITECH EHR to enhance operational efficiency and clinical decision support.

Gifford Health Care will be switching to MEDITECH for its EHR after previously using three different health IT systems.

The health system, based in Randolph, Vermont, includes a critical access hospital and several primary care and specialty clinics.

The implementation will provide a patient portal to provide access to personal health data. The portal will also allow patients to message their providers securely.

In a report to a state healthcare board, Gifford Health representatives noted that the new MEDITECH EHR system is set to "promote clinical and operational efficiency, while offering our providers, direct care givers, operational, financial and administrative staff more robust data to support decision-making in all of these areas."

Orthopedic Rehabilitation Provider Taps EHR to Support Growth

Athletico Physical Therapy, based in Oak Brook, IL, has expanded its agreement with EHR vendor NextGen Healthcare.

The orthopedic rehabilitation provider recently entered new markets and will leverage EHR and enterprise practice management (PM) solutions from NextGen to support its expanded footprint.

Athletico expanded its presence in the eastern United States with a February 2022 acquisition of Pivot Health Solutions, a large Maryland-based network of physical and occupational therapy clinics and onsite employer locations.

The combined organization encompasses over 9,000 employees across more than 900 locations in 24 states and the District of Columbia. Athletico chose to consolidate all acquired locations onto NextGen solutions to support its organizational growth.

"NextGen Healthcare has been instrumental to our ongoing pursuit of operational efficiency and excellence in patient care, and we are excited to expand this relationship," Chris Throckmorton, President and CEO of Athletico Physical Therapy, said in a press release.

"Our newly acquired locations have already experienced meaningful improvements in revenue and financial performance since the adoption of NextGen Healthcare's interoperable solutions," he added.

Community-Based Hospital Selects MEDITECH EHR

Citizens Medical Center, a community-based hospital in Victoria, Texas, is implementing a MEDITECH Expanse EHR to enhance patient care delivery.

The 317-bed acute care hospital partnered with CareCloud, Inc., a health IT services provider, to spearhead the EHR implementation.

CareCloud's medSR division is set to bring extensive MEDITECH and operational experience to ensure that Citizens' objectives are met cost-effectively.

"The strategic alliance with MEDITECH Expanse and medSR as our implementation partner marks a pivotal moment in shaping the future of our organization," Duane Woods, chief financial officer at Citizens, said in a press release. "We're thrilled to usher in a new era where our patients enjoy a seamless, unified healthcare record, be it in the ambulatory, emergency, or acute care settings."
